Celevu x MSFF: Supporting Korean Cinema at the 22nd Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival

We are pleased to announce that Celevu is joining the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival (MSFF) as an official sponsor for its upcoming 22nd edition. Held annually in Seoul, MSFF is South Korea’s premier short film festival and has historically served as a vital launching pad for emerging independent filmmakers, directors, and actors.

Demonstrating immense industry interest, this year’s call for entries received a staggering 1,667 submissions. Following a rigorous screening process, only 44 films made the final cut. Notably, the lineup features 18 World Premieres and 2 Korean Premieres, offering audiences an exclusive look at the freshest cinematic trends and sensibilities in contemporary Korean cinema.

The festival distinguishes itself by categorizing short films into five unique genre competitions. This year, the categories will be named after iconic milestones in Korean cinema:

- Take Care of My Cat (고양이를 부탁해): Social Commentary

- Jealousy Is My Strength (질투는 나의 힘): Romance/Drama

- No Manners (품행제로): Comedy

- Epitaph (기담): Horror

- Nowhere to Hide (인정사정 볼 것 없다): Action/Thriller

Promotional Trailer "The Perfect Audience"

To build anticipation for this year's edition, MSFF has released its official promotional trailer, titled "The Perfect Audience" (최고의 관객). The trailer features a notable collaboration between prominent industry figures, starring actors Kim Tae-ri (The Handmaiden, Twenty-Five Twenty-One) and Son Seok-gu (The Roundup, My Liberation Notes), under the direction of actor-filmmaker Koo Kyo-hwan (D.P., Kill Boksoon). In the trailer, two actors discuss what it is that film-makers want from the “perfect audience”. The conclusion that they reach may surprise you.

Organized by Next Directors and managed by Cine21, the 2026 edition of the festival welcomes Netflix as its main sponsor to foster the growth of Korean creators. Naver will also be joinsing as a media partner to help expand the audience base. Celevu is thrilled to contribute alongside these industry giants, to support the fresh talent and vision shaping the future of Korean cinema.
